Does ultrasound have harmful effects?
Ultrasound has no known harmful effect upon humans or
fetuses. Over the past 20 years, ultrasound has become a mainstay in hospital
radiology departments and today, is one of the most frequently utilized imaging
tests.
Why do I need to drink water before my exam?
Ultrasound waves penetrate well through fluid, making a
full bladder helpful in visualizing structures within the pelvis.
How long will the examination take?
The length of the scan varies, depending on the nature of
the study, but you should generally allow one hour for the completion of the
procedure.
Will an ultrasound exam hurt?
You should experience little or no discomfort during your
scan. The sonographer may ask you to hold your breath while recording particular
areas. Also, during certain obstetric and gynecological scans, the sonographer
might gently place a specially designed transducer into the vagina to obtain
additional information.
Do you perform 3D/4D fetal imaging?
Yes, with our new Philips IU22 we are able to perform
3D/4D fetal imaging in conjunction with your ob ultrasounds. You do need a
doctor's order.
Do you give out baby pictures?
